Rely on plastic pipe systems

Pipes and fittings made of plastic are used in more and more areas of application - and for good reason. High-quality thermoplastics such as PP and PE have numerous advantages and properties that are of great use in a wide range of applications. They are also recyclable.

Material benefits and safety

Pipes and fittings made of plastic have particularly smooth inner surfaces. As a result, solids such as sediment, sand loads or grit in mixed or waste water do not adhere and no incrustations occur. The cleaning and maintenance effort is minimized.

Plastic pipe systems have high chemical resistance, resistance to stress cracking and dimensional stability under the influence of heat. Depending on the type of stress, they are temperature-resistant in the range from -40 °C to 50 °C.

Pipe systems made of PE and PP are physiologically safe, i.e. they cannot harm the environment and are suitable for drinking water pipes and food production. The hygienic suitability of the materials is tested and evaluated in accordance with the assessment principles of the Federal Environment Agency.

Plastic pipes and fittings are very easy to weld and can be joined using electrofusion couplers, butt or electrofusion welding. These diverse options offer the advantage of high and long-term tightness.

The carbon black contained in PE pipes and fittings makes them suitable for long-term outdoor use as they are UV-resistant.

In contrast to metallic materials, plastics are corrosion-free, which is particularly advantageous for underground pipelines and underwater pipelines (offshore pipelines).

Advantages: Installation and transportation

Resistant to stress cracking

Underground pipe systems are subject to constant stresses. These include surface loads, earth and traffic loads and subsidence.

Plastic pipe systems transfer any stresses to the soil through slight deformations. They lie virtually stress-free in the ground and do not have to bear any additional loads. For this reason, pipe systems made of plastic are referred to as “flexible” pipes.

Pipe systems made of materials such as concrete, vitrified clay or cast iron must absorb these stresses into the pipe wall, which results in a higher load on the pipes.

Laying without sand bed

Sand-free laying is also possible with plastic pipes and fittings.  This aspect also offers an advantage for the environment, as sand is an increasingly scarce resource.

Light weight

Due to their comparatively light weight, plastic piping systems are easier to handle during transportation and installation. Depending on the dimensions, there is no need for lifting equipment during installation. This saves you costs during installation and transportation.

Advantages: Durability and sustainability

Plastic pipe systems are characterized by a very long service life. If laid and bedded correctly, these piping systems can last up to 100 years. At the end of their useful life, the raw materials of the pipes and fittings can be recycled. This saves energy and reduces CO2 emissions.
